Composite deck installation in Austin is a popular choice for one reason: upkeep. Capped composite boards resist fading, staining, scratching and mold, and they don’t need sanding, staining or sealing. What they do need is the right framing underneath. Book a composite deck estimate and we’ll walk you through the brands, colors and what your yard or existing deck needs.

We’re a veteran-owned, fully insured TrexPro contractor, building decks across Central Texas since 2008. Every composite deck we install carries our 1-year workmanship warranty, along with the manufacturer’s product warranty for the boards you choose.

Trex

We install Trex Transcend, Enhance and Select. Transcend sits at the top of the range, Enhance is the middle option, and Select is the entry line. As a TrexPro contractor, we install each one to Trex’s published requirements. See our Trex deck installation page for how the lines compare.

TimberTech

We install TimberTech AZEK, which is PVC, plus TimberTech PRO and TimberTech EDGE, which are capped composite. Our TimberTech decking page covers the collections in each line.

Fiberon Composite Decking

Fiberon is available on request. We install the Fiberon Symmetry, Horizon and Good Life collections, which offer capped composite boards with realistic wood grain. If you’ve seen a Fiberon color you like, let us know at the estimate and we’ll build around it. We’ll order Fiberon for your project and install it to Fiberon’s published requirements, just as we do with Trex and TimberTech.

Low-Maintenance Composite Decks

Composite decks skip the staining and sealing a wood deck needs, which is why many homeowners call them no-maintenance. That’s not quite true. Composite boards still need regular cleaning to clear dirt, pollen and mildew, and each manufacturer publishes care guidance, such as Trex’s How to Clean a Trex Deck. The wood framing underneath also ages like any other wood deck, especially where water can sit, so it’s worth a look now and then through our deck maintenance service.

A simple gray composite deck extends from a house onto a grassy backyard, bordered by a beige wooden fence. The sky above is partly cloudy, suggesting a calm, neutral atmosphere.

The Framing Composite Needs

Composite manufacturers set their own requirements for joist spacing, fastening and gaps, and those requirements are often stricter than what an older wood deck was built to. Even on a newer deck, our crew checks joist spacing, connections, flashing, fasteners and drainage before any composite goes down. When the existing framing meets the requirements, we can keep it. When it doesn’t, we add or adjust framing first.

That check is the difference between a wood-to-composite remodel on your current structure and a full replacement deck built from new framing up. We’ll tell you which one your deck needs and show you why.

How a Composite Deck Install Works

  • Choose the product. We compare brands, lines and colors with you and talk through sun, shade and how you use the deck.
  • Check or build the frame. Joist spacing, connections, flashing, fasteners and drainage are checked against the manufacturer’s requirements, and new framing is built to them.
  • Handle permits. When a permit applies, our trusted permit partners file it, and inspections happen before the structure is covered.
  • Install the boards. We follow the manufacturer’s gapping and fastening requirements, using hidden fastener systems where the line offers them.
  • Finish the details. Matching fascia, stairs and railings complete the deck so every surface is low-maintenance.

Composite Deck Options

Composite works for ground-level decks, raised decks, multi-level layouts and pool deck builds, where slip resistance and drainage matter. We match the decking with composite or aluminum railing systems so the whole deck stays low-maintenance.

In direct Texas sun, darker composite colors get warmer underfoot than lighter ones. We’ll talk through color with that in mind, especially for decks without shade.

Composite Decks Across Austin

We install composite decks throughout Austin composite deck projects, from Central neighborhoods where older wood decks are being converted to newer subdivisions, and out to hillside homes in Lakeway composite decks.

Composite Deck FAQs

It starts with a site visit or an inspection of your existing deck. We help you choose between Trex, TimberTech and Fiberon, check or build the framing to the manufacturer’s requirements, handle permits through trusted partners when they apply and install the boards with the fastening system the manufacturer calls for. Then we add railings and stairs to match.

All three are solid choices, and the right one depends on look, budget and the features you care about. Trex offers Transcend, Enhance and Select. TimberTech offers AZEK PVC plus PRO and EDGE composite. Fiberon offers Symmetry, Horizon and Good Life on request. We’ll explain the differences in look, feel and upkeep before you decide.

Yes, but far less than wood. Composite boards don’t need sanding, staining or sealing, but they do need regular cleaning to remove dirt, pollen and mildew. Follow your manufacturer’s care guidance, and have the framing underneath checked now and then, since it’s usually wood and ages like any other wood deck.

Sometimes. Composite manufacturers set their own requirements for joist spacing and fastening, and many older wood decks weren’t built to them. We check joist spacing, connections, flashing, fasteners and drainage first. If the frame meets the requirements, we can keep it. If not, we add or adjust framing before the new boards go down.

It can. Like most decking, composite warms up in direct sun, and darker colors get hotter than lighter ones. If your deck gets full afternoon sun, we’ll talk through lighter colors, shade from a pergola or cover, and board options that suit the spot. It’s one of the things we cover during the estimate.

For many homeowners, yes. Composite costs more upfront than pressure-treated pine, but it skips the staining and sealing wood needs and resists fading, staining and mold. Wood still has a natural look some people prefer. We build both, so we’ll give you a straight comparison for your yard and how you use the deck.

Yes. Individual composite boards can usually be replaced without disturbing the rest of the deck, especially on decks built with hidden fasteners. We match the brand, line and color as closely as the manufacturer’s current range allows. Because the framing underneath is usually wood, we check it at the same time so the repair holds.

Two kinds. The boards carry the manufacturer’s product warranty, which varies by brand and line, and we’ll explain the one for the boards you choose. Our installation carries a 1-year workmanship warranty. Installing to the manufacturer’s requirements also matters for keeping the product warranty valid, which is another reason we check the framing first.
