Trex Transcend (Premium)

Transcend is the flagship line, with the deepest grain pattern, the widest color palette, and the strongest fade and stain warranty in the Trex catalog. We recommend Transcend for primary entertaining decks and pool surrounds where the surface takes daily abuse.

Trex Enhance (Mid-Tier)

Enhance is the volume seller because it hits a real value point. The cap is similar in chemistry to Transcend but the core is lighter, which makes the boards easier to handle on multi-level builds. Trex Select (Entry)

The composite surface itself is essentially maintenance-free beyond occasional washing.

Trex costs more upfront but you skip the resealing cycle entirely. Over a 20-year ownership window, total cost of ownership is roughly comparable, sometimes lower for Trex once you factor in stain, brushes, and weekends. Cedar makes sense if you want a natural look and you enjoy the maintenance ritual. Trex makes sense if you want install-and-forget. Both are valid choices for Austin conditions.

Trex surface temperature does climb in direct sun, more than wood and less than concrete. Lighter color boards (Trex’s gray and tan families) run noticeably cooler than dark colors.
